THE BEETHOVEN CONCERT
The Overture to Egmont, Op 84 Ludwig van Beethoven
Piano Concerto No 4 in G major, Op 58 Ludwig van Beethoven
Soloist: George Rowley.
Interval circa 20 minutes
Le Roi s'amuse (Dances in Ancient Style) Leo Delibes
Symphony No1 in C major, Op 21 Ludwig van Beethoven
This Beethoven concert is part of the Festival Orchestra's contribution to the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth. The inclusion of the Delibes 'Dances in Ancient Style' (in its original seven movement form) simply adds a change of pace to the evenings entertainment.
Beethoven's exquisite Piano Concert No 4 has presented us with the opportunity to launch the Concerto playing career of George Rowley who, following his Masters Degree in performance at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (graduating with the highest distinction in his cohort), was awarded the 'Weingarten Scholarship' to study with László Borbély at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. George is already making a name for himself as a recitalist in the UK and abroad and, as in the case of Mark Bebbington (the renowned concert pianist), George also hails from Kidderminster. There must be something in the water!.....
Free parking (including the disabled) is within Bromsgrove School Grounds. If there is sufficient demand, the Hall can run a 'pick up and return' service which will incur a small charge. Please contact the Routh Hall directly for further details.
